Professional Experience, Responsibilities, and Accomplishments:

Joe is responsible for Huntington’s business development and service activities in Colorado, and ensuring those activities are aligned with Huntington’s mission, purpose, and values. Joe has more than 20 years of experience in banking, joining Huntington in June 2021 to launch its commercial banking presence in the state.

Joe came to Huntington from BBVA, where he led the Denver middle market group to a 67% increase in the team’s client relationships between 2018 and 2021. Prior to that, he was a client manager on BBVA’s mid-corporate banking team, covering a regional territory that included Colorado and the Pacific Northwest states.

His earlier roles include KeyBank, where he served on Denver-based upper middle market and middle market teams, and a boutique investment banking firm in St. Louis, where he started his career as an analyst.

Current and Previous Professional and Civic Activities:

Joe serves on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver and Reach Out and Read Colorado. He has also been involved with the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation, serving on the foundation’s executive board from 2010 until 2016 and as board treasurer from 2013 to 2015. Joe chaired the corporate sponsorship committee for the foundation’s annual fundraising gala event, the Booklover’s Ball, in 2011 and 2012. He remains an active member of the foundation’s finance committee.

Joe has also been active with Monarch Little League in Louisville, Colorado. He served seven years on the league’s board of directors and coached numerous youth baseball teams between 2007 and 2016. Joe previously volunteered with the Denver Scholarship Foundation and DECA, a high school business-focused organization.

Joe is a 2009 graduate of Impact Denver and a 2020 graduate of Leadership Denver, leadership groups of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. Joe also participated on the DMCC Leadership Foundation’s 2022 Leadership Exchange trip to Seattle.

Education:

  • Joe graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an emphasis in Finance.
  • He earned his MBA from the University of Colorado in 2006.
  • In 2012, Joe completed the Executive Education program at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas-Austin.
